YRM assists neighbors in finding dignified housing. This includes working with them to help locate, secure, move in to, and furnish safe and clean housing. The Department of Social Services issues a benefit card through which those in need receive government aid. This card identifies the financially underprivileged located within the community and when such people show a willingness to participate in the process of finding and establishing a safe and clean home and diligently work alongside those assisting them, YRM provides such assistance.
YRM requires that these individuals participate in the process of finding, securing, cleaning, and moving in to the housing. Their assisting in the process ensures that they will treat the property and the surrounding area respectfully and will maintain it in such a way that improves the overall community.
This is all funded through private donations: new and used furniture and appliances are donated by private individuals, moving expenses, gas, extermination supplies, and bed bug steaming machines are supplied by private donors. YRM youth members and volunteers assist with the cleaning and moving of the furniture and personal items.
It is YRM’s desire to become involved in the additional purchase, renovation and management of less desirable properties to be turned into affordable, low income and mixed, dignified housing.
